The narrative revolves around a “first-date-gone-wrong” scenario that devolves into a surrealist metaphoric fever dream. The idea of a first date gone wrong and the surrealistic aftermath just appealed to me and granted the opportunity to blend loads of really interesting visual imagery and tell a story more akin to the sort of writing that appeals to me more now from a fiction short point of view however, from previous experience, it’s a difficult concept to pitch and eventually sell. The more cerebral, surrealistic clashing more with the common ideology of music videos I have been approached to make of late.
Jam packed with strange little visual quirks and told in a relatively short length of time, theres a frenetic energy that carries the speed and hastiness of the track opting to use flashes of the band rather than lengthy takes. What you get is a marriage between the tone and pace of the song through the course of telling the narrative in a synergy shown best here in STRANGER DANGER.
