Documentary / 7:39 mins

Made alongside a collection of short films from across Europe as part of a larger scale feature film centered around a unified thematic concern, WHAT MAKES YOU? became a personal vignette, something I described in interviews as “a visual map representing the cultural landscape of my country”.

Taking a number of months to film, all across Scotland, over the course of the Summer break in 2007, I had a definite visual and design concept; an experimental documentary that explored what make people happy, sad and angry. A fairly static-shot film in monochrome, it was about honesty and transparency, a window into the world around me and the bigger Scottish picture.

  • An ELIA / RSAMD (RCS) Production, screened in Turin and Berlin with a collection of films and media from across European Institutions.
