Disposable : Metal

Fast, frenetic and energetic, set against a static frame of a used TV in some trash. Taking direct inspiration from Hideo Nakata’s RINGU, the video sequence was to appear eerie and in-keeping with the theme of being buried alive in sand. Using the sand timer as a visual and associative visual motif that time was running out for this particular character.

A video projected on an old CRT TV amongst some trash. Technically more involved than most videos I have produced, it involved an initial shooting day which would be edited, transferred to tape, a further shooting day of which the edited footage would accompany the master tape. Shot in real-time, the final edited tape-to-tape was played from a VHS on the TV. Trying to keep the anomalies that would be present in “stepping down” two or three generations was what I was trying to capture.
