Disposable : Metal

Under the banner of performance-based videos, it needed an interesting backdrop to house the personalities of the individual band members and how they were as a team. The orange colored wall with the out of place power socket reaching halfway up the wall seemed interesting. The focus would be very much on how the band performed, seen very clearly and energetic that hadn’t been seen to the same extent in the previous installment. The coloring was as a juxtaposition to the secondary element, feeling predominantly colder in look and feel.

The basis for the secondary element, the ‘water’, was in creating an atmosphere that the substance was foreboding; hitting classical cinematic cliches of the foggy, scary body of rippling water where anything could reside. There was a series of elements created and tested for the video, including some underwater work however, the only element that ‘stuck out’ and held much more creative value was the footage I had taken using macro lenses on oil and water. I wanted to create a living being within the water effects; agitated, vibrating, visceral thus giving it much more life on screen than average liquid. Using only a single light, the individual colors were all created in-camera.
