Echo Arcadia : Indie

The third track from Echo’s EP, SETTING SUN AND SINKING SAND was quickly developed and filmed, taking the form of a one-shot (on-er) steadicam video comprised of only three shots in total.

What had come about with the SETTING SUN was to create a simple band focused video that as a concept was one I had visited on a couple of occasions to varying degrees of complexity; BRAVADO being the most obvious of my one-shotters and FOLLOW ME. It’s a concept that I’ve been desperate to develop and hone within the style of the films and videos I make. When done right, when you’re able to not figure out the illusion and keep people’s attention for such a long period of time with interesting and intriguing moments. Let alone the fact they are the hardest videos to make, from a physical and mental perspective.

My interest as a Director has felt nestled in being able to develop my shots as far as they can be until they naturally feel the need to cut. My interest in shots that last the length of a scene or hold for an inordinate amount of time to allow moments to breathe is contrasting to the quick cutting, put as many shots into as many seconds that oversaturate in the mind; tell more story with less shots.
