Firebrand Superrock : Metal
A mad scientist looking for a cure, kidnapped and experiments on a woman thought o be a witch, unbeknownst to him, the power he is exploiting. Influenced overall by H.P. Lovecraft, the narrative focused on a man playing God, highlighting his struggle and limitations as a human being. The location became a character in itself, creating an atmosphere for us to tell the dark, grim and eventual violent story contained within. The claustrophobia of the location, acting like a maze gave the video much more of credence and displayed the importance of choosing a good location. The performers within each of the roles surpassed what I had expected, especially as we hadn’t had a chance to rehearse. Shot in monochrome, it gave the video a specific look, with added flaring and burnouts.
The video was shot over a long 16-hour day at Summerhall; a video only able to be produced by the hard work employed by everyone involved and thankfully the effort is shown in every minute of the video. From start to finish it is incredibly gratifying from my point of view, one of the tightest edits I have ever created and goes to show that my music videos can be as epic and as grand as they want to be.
